Advanced Planning Visit (APV) in Nepal

Updated: May 29

As part of our project STARRY – Solidarity Targeted Activities Run by Rising Youth, under the ESC Humanitarian Aid program, we carried out our Advanced Planning Visit (APV) in Nepal from April 17 to 21, 2025.

Representatives from the supporting organisations EPEKA and Building Bridges joined the hosting organisation Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN) to prepare for the upcoming volunteering activities. The visit began in Kathmandu, where they met with VIN staff, volunteers, and interns to coordinate on project goals, logistics, and safety planning.

Following this, the team traveled to Okhaldhunga district, where the main volunteering activities will take place. They visited the NaraTika Community Learning Center, local schools, and engaged with the communities of Taluwa, Thulachhap, and Bhadaure. These visits provided valuable insights into the local context and helped ensure that the future volunteering activities align with the needs of the communities.

The STARRY volunteering activity in Nepal will focus on child protection, education, and women's empowerment—key areas where ESC volunteers will contribute through community-based actions and skill-building.

The APV ensured that all parties are well-prepared to deliver a safe, impactful, and meaningful volunteering experience.
